i like this idea, i hate how i always feal like im playing with a sixth grader ( no stero typing ment ), who can never just win at pvp, they allwas have to laph, or make fun of some one who loses, its great to be able to talk to the other team, but at times i have to tell these fouryear olds to act like four year olds.

Although, it is understandable somebody would be happy to win in a match but the insulting of each other is for the most part getting far out of hand. I would expect better then that in this game.

One hour in the tombs, names censored because the intent isn't a witch hunt or anything, just to point out how often this goes down.
Pre-battle, post-battle, mid-battle, it's ever present, and just about every team I was in had a member that just had to open his/her big mouth and let out pure verbal garbage, sometimes 2-3.

Well, starting tomorrow when I wake up...whenever I see this I will be reporting people to the admins. It is not acceptable especially on a game which a credit card is not required where any child may play. Not acceptable at all.

ya racist morons, usually 13-16 year old kids who think its funny, give 16 year olds like me a bad name. But, if you have a free MMO you will get a lot more of these types than for a payed one...I prefer this game over any of the other MMOs and would like to see this racist BS at least semi-silenced

I personally have not as of yet run into usage of any "racial slurs".

Only things I've seen are such that are shown in that screenshot.

And even in those screenshots, there are none. What are you going to do? Block the words "dumb" and "Korea"...? You can't put a ban on any of those words used in those screenshots, and those are the most common ones I've seen. If you put a ban on the word "kill", "scum", "dumb", "Korea", or any of them, it would make a lot of people angry simply because they couldn't say things like "Kill the Charr!" "They killed me!" "God the henchmen are dumb..."

Or other such phrases.

You can put forth your ideas on the matter as much as you want, but I have high doubts that anything will be changed when it comes to putting a "racist" filter in the game. I've not seen any really racial "slurs" that don't also have another, non-offensive meaning towards the Koreans or the Europeans. I mean, what, then they'd go and ban the word "Yankees" as well. The only racist slur I can think that is blatantly obvious is the "N" word, but anything else would be out of the question simply because of the complications that would arise because of it. Sure it sucks that such ignorant and close-minded people are out there, but it's a fact of life that we'll need to deal with.

I guess you could take screenshots and send it to the devs, but this game doesn't really have GMs or anything that I'm aware of constantly looming over everything, and simply because all chats are private to the zone/district or whatever. It doesn't work. And screenshots can be edited (easily), so I have serious doubts that any sent to the devs will do anything about the person in question.

Sucks, yeah. But it's going to be around for as long as we know.

I have a related question...just where do I go to report someone for spouting racial slurs? It wasnt just a one time occurance, this guy is a repeat offender in PVP matches against Koreans.

And no it's not just someone stating about how "Koreans suck" but stuff like "chink" which is a derogatory word against Chinese. That just shows how stupid these kids are...

sure calling people names is wrong, but cmon people grow up, if you are so mentally imbalanced that you cant take being called a name, then you definately shouldnt be on the internet, oh and also saying things like "koreans work well together", thats stereotyping and racist too, so climb down off your soapbox

You obviously are clueless here. It's not just about name calling here. It's not letting the gaming environment get out of hand and turn into something racially hostile. Hey guys i agree the amount of racism sucks and should be stopped. Usually, if you just PM the person and tell them you're going to report them, they shut up and apologise

You have to word it correctly though, so that it seems like Anet might ban them or something. I've done it a lot and it works

Also once (in tombs) , some guy was being racist to asians in general, so basically we just argued with him in public until more or less the whole district started shouting at him , and he left.

And i know, because i have guildies that do speak a bit of korean, of course not completely fluent, but what does it matter... its only american racism that i've been seeing. I find it funny that the koreans can work together for the tournament since they know it will be korea with the favor of the gods... an american team trying to "work" together, is really just in a sense, trying to screw the other team over... It's hillarious to see the difference between the way people are raised... It's not like it's just the gaming comunity of americans that are racist... it's a big problem through our nation, which will be our downfall... Too bad my "image" is displayed by a majority. Being catagorized can be horrible. as alot of islams and muslims know as well...

Everyone is racist, no one can escape so you all are just arguing about nothing except the fact that you are hypocrites. Well I am European and didn't notice that I was playing in American Districts until I entered HoH the first time for America.

Funny thing was that some guy in my group started insulting the European teams. Not really in a racist way just something like "Europeans must die"
I told him in groupchat "hey I am european too

" So he answered, "Ok all but you then

I think most guys just want to taunt other teams. Don't take such insults too serious.
However I also had to read things like "Kill those NAZI Europeans" already in HoH from the American Team (not mine). There are some idiots in all Teams no matter where you play. I changed my realm to Europe yesterday and had some germans looking for german "only" Monks...

I may be wrong... but when i see these people coming in here and complaining about the fact that i will be reporting such vulgor crap. Then i just know what names to look out for when I'm playing in the game. There was no reason to become defensive against what i have stated, unless of course you are one of these people I'm talking about. I may be, being "immature" by calling them idiots... But really, i dont care, because that's what they are to me, and I at least have the decency(sp) to not insult his/her whole race/religion/sexual preference. And no, im not talking about things such as "Let's get these korean's", im talking about these people saying such things as "Insert racism here"... Sorry, i don't even feel compelled enough to retype anything that can be as horrible as some of the things i've been seeing.
